Anna Littleboy - So what does it mean to be “eco-efficient”?
Eco-efficient beneficiation can mean many things. This presentation will examine the concept and challenge the audience to engage with the many different perspectives on what it means to be “ecoefficient”. The term is frequently used to refer to the application of processes that can reduce environmental impacts, often in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. However, as our appreciation of the interconnectivity of global systems matures, more philosophical reflections are emerging, for example: what are the timeframes of concern and who gets to decide what aspects of the environment are important and why? Obviously there are not always straightforward answers to these sorts of questions and the presentation will use systems theory and wicked problem analysis to frame them.
