ABC News & Australian Mining Review recognise Centre Chief Investigator L/Prof Graeme Jameson's work with Glencore, and contribution to minerals processing technology invention: The Jameson Cell

Many ARC Centre of Excellence for Enabling Eco-Efficient Beneficiation of Minerals (COEMinerals) team members are celebrated scientific leaders and innovators in their field, and it was great to see our colleague Laureate Professor Graeme Jamesons contribution to #mineralsprocessing technology invention recognised in this (Australia) ABC News story: https://lnkd.in/gp6p7bPd

An extract of the story follows, with some additional comments from L/Prof Jameson included below:
…Innovation was the key to minimising costs and ensuring the viability of the mine in such an isolated location. (…) In 1985, Mount Isa Mines, in partnership with Professor Graeme Jameson from the University of Newcastle, invented the Jameson Cell – a lower-cost form of flotation processing that produced a more concentrated ore. Since then, 430 Jameson Cells have been installed in 30 countries, according to Glencore.…

Following the coverage, L/Prof Jameson shared:
It was great to work with the people at Mount Isa Mines. They had a very difficult ore body that needed cutting edge technologies. Out in the bush, a thousand kilometres from the nearest city, they assembled the best possible teams of scientists and engineers to work on their unique problems. Their progressive spirit led to the rapid acceptance of the Jameson Cell (minerals processing technology) worldwide.“
